McRae back in action in '09

From Team Envyrides

After a season spent recovering from a broken back, Joey McRae will return to the track as a competitor once again.

On board a brand new manufacturer and machine McRae will try to start where he left off in 2008 in a quest for a national championship. With renewed sponsorship from Envy Rides in Mississauga, ON as well as new sponsors in Mimic Industries, Woodcraft and Motovan, McRae hopes to put his Yamaha YZF-R6 at the front of the field.

"I look forward to starting the 2009 season," McRae said. "After a long time away from being on track I`m excited to get back. It`s been a long road to recovery with many ups and downs. I`m still not fully back in shape but that will come.

"I had an opportunity to go to California this winter to get some track time with Keith Code and the California superbike school, which helped me to change my style to make it a bit easier on my back. I feel after the changes they made to my style of riding I can be at the front of the pack, but the year is very long and anything can happen."

McRae will use the RACE regionals as a testing ground for the new R6 to get it ready for the first National race in May. He was injured in the opening round of the Armour Bodies Amateur Sport Bike national series at Calabogie Motorsports Park last May.
