From Toolee Motorsports
HAMILTON, ON -- Toolee Motorsports' Lee Kuhn Jr. has become Canada's first Arai Americas factory sponsored rider.
Talks began with Arai's Bruce Porter back in 2008 at the MotoGP race in Indianapolis and finished last week with Kuhn outfitted in Randy Mamola replica Corsair Vs, which he will wear in his chase for the SV National Cup in the Parts Canada Superbike Championship and the SV Regional championship in the RACE SuperSeries. Kuhn will also be travelling south of the border to compete in select WERA, CCS and USMGP events.
"It was such an eye opener in Indy when Bruce taught me about Arai helmet technology and proper sizing techniques. It turned out that I had been racing in helmets that were almost two sizes too big for my head. I was experiencing blurred vision at high speeds in my old helmets and didn't even realize it," said Kuhn. "It is an absolute honour to be wearing the world's best helmets and I can't thank Arai's Bruce Porter and Jeff Weil enough for the opportunity."
In his rookie year, Kuhn finished second in the 2008 Parts Canada Superbike CBR Challenge National Championship aboard his Sturgess Cycle/Toolee Motorsports Honda CBR. The Hamilton racer also finished 2008 as the number one plate holder in the USMGP production and open classes, and in three out of four classes in Race City's GRC Canada Cup in Calgary.
Kuhn also won or made the podium in a number of 2008 AMRA, CNMRA, OMMRA and TSMMR races, and has won more than 10 Mini Moto GP Championships since beginning his two wheeled racing career in 2003. Prior to 2003, Kuhn was a Biesse Kart Factory sponsored driver, on its Canadian National Team.
Hamilton-based Suzuki dealer Sturgess Cycle will continue its support of Kuhn in 2009, with him outfitted in Spyke leathers, TCX boots and Alpinestar gloves. Additional partners include Highside Healthcare, Ogio, Fuel Clothing, House of Kolor Paint, Accelerated Technologies, Tsunamibike, Dreamsport Car Audio, Great Northern Batteries, Split Auto Collision, Carson Signs, Industrial Cryogenics Enterprises Ltd., G&D Enterprises, DM Telai, Bizeta Motors, Dellorto UK and PMT tires.
Kuhn will be joined in 2009 by Toolee Motorsport team-mates, 14-year-old CBR Cup Rookie Leah Vignale and 10-year-old development rider Eden O'Shell.
