Maxxis named tire partner of TT

From Maxxis Tires

Tire manufacturer Maxxis has been named as the Official Tire Partner for the 2008 Isle of Man TT Races, which take place between Saturday, May 24 and Saturday, June 7.

“With 37 3/4 miles of public roads making up its legendary course, the Isle of Man has been styled the ‘road racing capital of the world’, and we’re thrilled to be associated with such a prestigious event as the TT festival,” said Maxxis International UK’s managing director Derek McMartin.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for us to raise the profile of the Maxxis brand and our high performing new Supermaxx Sport tire, among arguably the most knowledgeable and enthusiastic motorcycle sports fans.”

In addition to its on-course presence, Maxxis is supplying tyres for the Yamaha R1 motorcycles used by the Traveling Marshals and running a brand awareness campaign with web-based competitions, both during and after the TT Races.

The Maxxis Bykerbabes will be on the Isle of Man throughout race week, handing out promotional gifts and encouraging fans to enter the competitions.

After Practice Week (May 24-30) the race schedule kicks off with the Dainese Superbike Race and Sure Mobile Sidecar TT Race A on Saturday, May 31. On Monday, June 2 it’s the turn of the Scottish Life Superstock Race and Relentless Supersport TT Race 1, which are followed on Wednesday, June 4, by the Relentless Supersport TT Race 2 and Sure Mobile Sidecar TT Race 2. The Dainese Senior TT Race brings racing on the mountain to a close on Friday, June 6.

Last year’s Centenary TT race festival attracted some 60,000 fans to the island and spectators are expected to be out in force once again, as many of the biggest names in road racing – including John McGuinness, a 13-times TT winner and the current outright lap record holder – are returning to compete alongside an array of exciting, rising stars.
