Lacombe running in Fast Company

From Team Toyota Yamaha Fast Company Racing

BRESLAU, ON -- One of Canada’s rising young road racing stars will be piloting the Team Toyota Yamaha Fast Company Racing bikes in the upcoming Parts Canada Superbike Championship season.

Twenty-five-year-old Kevin Lacombe will be aboard the Scott Miller-prepared Yamaha YZF-R1 Superbike and YZF-R6 600 Sport Bike when the 2008 campaign kicks off at Calabogie Motorsports Park in Calabogie, ON May 23-25.

The Granby, QC rider has been regarded as a future national champion ever since he made his Pro debut as a 16-year-old almost a decade ago. He has five career Canadian Superbike wins to his credit and in 2006 finished runner-up in both the Parts Canada Superbike and Pro 600 Sport Bike classes.

Last season he was fourth in Superbike points with two second place finishes to his credit and sixth in the Yoshimura Pro 600 Sport Bike standings.

“He’s young, he’s always been a contender; I think if we give him good equipment he’s capable of winning championships,” Miller said. “He’s shown great potential for years.”

Lacombe has spent most of the winter training in Florida, where he has been cycling and riding motocross with the likes of Canadian MX superstars Jean Sebastien Roy and Colton Facciotti. He also ran in some CCS regional road races and the opening round of the SunTrust MOTO-ST Series at Daytona International Speedway during Bike Week in early March.

“I feel as much confidence as I ever have at the start of a season,” Lacombe said. “This is the best opportunity of my life to this point. Scott is one of the top guys in racing and he and his team have been together a long time. It’s going to be really good."

Team Toyota Yamaha Fast Company Racing will make its 2008 debut with Lacombe in the official Parts Canada Superbike Pirelli Tire Test at Florida’s JenningsGP circuit April 15-16.
