Mladin dominates Sonoma testing

From Infineon Raceway

SONOMA, CA — Suzuki’s Mat Mladin continued to dominate on Wednesday at Infineon Raceway as riders completed a Yamaha-sponsored AMA Superbike Test Session.

Mladin recorded the top time on Wednesday over the 12-turn, 2.22-mile road course at 1 minute, 34.90 seconds. His best time of the test came on Tuesday (1:34.76). Both times were better than the actual track record, which is owned by teammate Ben Spies (1:34.991, set in 2008).

The teams were testing in advance of the Kawasaki AMA Superbike Showdown, presented by Supercuts, May 16-18, in the Sonoma Valley.

Fourteen riders from Kawasaki, Attack Kawasaki, Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda and Corona Extra Honda attended the test.

Mladin, a six-time AMA Superbike champion, was followed Wednesday by teammate Tommy Hayden (1:35.28) and Yamaha’s Jason DiSalvo (1:35.77).
