Kahuna Kawasaki launches endurance team

From Vicki Schouten

WOODBRIDGE, ON -- Kahuna Powersports has created a WERA Endurance Motorcycle race team for 2008. Kahuna Kawasaki’s Parts Canada and RACE Regional competitor, Vicki Schouten will team up with North Carolina resident and AMA Superbike commentator, Greg White to race select rounds of the WERA National Endurance Series under the Kahuna Kawasaki banner.

The team will kick off its season at the WERA National Endurance series opener at Roebling Road in Savannah, GA on March 15. From there, the team will see where things go with Schouten’s hectic Canadian road race schedule and White’s AMA commitments.

Schouten and White will race a Kawasaki ZX-6R, Kawasaki’s middleweight flagship, with premier support from Kahuna Kawasaki and Canadian Kawasaki Motors.

The riders will be wearing Performance Under Gear and Accelerated Technologies’ John Sharrard will look after suspension tuning. Accelerated Technologies is familiar with the Kahuna Kawasaki race bikes as it handles all of the suspension tuning on the machines during the Canadian road racing season.

Brad Clarke will act as crew chief and lead mechanic for the team, overseeing all of the pit operations and any mechanical issues.

The team is also supported by Pirelli tires, Giro eyewear, Vortex Racing Components for sprockets, rearsets and other racing components and Bickle Racing for tire warmers and leather repair. Schouten will rely on Bell Helmets and Komodo Gear for leathers, while White will be outfitted in Arai Helmets and Alpinestars gear.
